From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
